Hi, I'm Julia 👋 Welcome!Â
I am an economic researcher studying labour markets, gender, and development. My work focuses on how social interventions shape women's bargaining power within households, their experiences with gender-based violence, and their entry into formal and informal economic and political spaces.
This research agenda has been shaped by direct experience across management, banking, and the non-profit sector across Africa, Asia, Europe and North America. In each of these settings, I saw firsthand how program design can either close or widen the gap between policy intent and women's lived economic autonomy.
Building on this foundation, I am applying to begin an Economics PhD in 2027. There, I plan to develop a research agenda combining quantitative labour economics and economic history, with a focused expertise in the economic dimensions of gender-based violence. Specifically, I want to examine its measurable effects on female labour force participation, wage trajectories, and long-term human capital accumulation.
